NovaTel's Direct Routes

Rent vs. Own - it's a matter of control.  The final step in NovaTel's evolution involves establishing direct Points-of-Presence (PoPs) with foreign PTTs (Postal, Telegraph & Telephone Companies).  NovaTel has been extremely successful by sharing other companies routes into foreign PPTs, but NovaTel cannot completely control the relationship for its benefit or for the benefit of its customers.

The answer is for NovaTel to either obtain direct routes with foreign PTTs or to obtain exclusive usage of certain PoPs and capacity with foreign PPTs.  This is a long-term project, but one that NovaTel has already embarked upon.

India:  NovaTel was one of the first VoIP carriers to obtain a direct agreement with a licensed carrier in India.  Such agreement allowed to obtain favorable pricing, committed capacity, and guaranteed quality.

Pakistan:  NovaTel acquired one of only five (5) VoIP licenses with the PTT in Pakistan.  This has been an extremely successful route for NovaTel, resulting in NovaTel pursuing its second expansion of capacity.

NovaTel is presently testing other direct routes in countries like: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Philippines, Vietnam, Spain, and other countries.  The Company has multiple routes into these countries through its A2Z product offering for the rest-of-the-world.  Once NovaTel determines it has large, consistent volumes of traffic to a country, it then begins to explore the options of obtaining a direct route.

NovaTel is somewhat opportunistic is its efforts to establish direct routes, but if a customer has consistent volumes and is willing to make a commitment, NovaTel is more than willing to spend the time and money to obtain a direct route, if it is possible.  You must remember, deregulation has not yet occurred in every country; therefore it is not currently possible to obtain a direct route everywhere.
